P22 for suppressor or upgrade?

In the future i would like to buy a 22lr suppressor. I currently have a walther p22 and am concerned about longterm reliability. Should i get a ruger mk and get it threaded? I want the cheapest option. Im left handed and appreciate the ambi controls

My favorite .22 suppressor host is by far the GSG-1911. It has an ambi-safety, so that would be a plus for you, and the price point is only around $320 or so. Plus, it is 80%+ parts compatible with a true 1911, so you can go wild on the custom stuff. I've shot the P22, and it wasn't awful, but the feeling of a fullsized 1911 with all of its glorious ergonomics is just too good to pass up. Plus, the sights easily clear even most 9mm suppressors I've used on it.

Hello, the P22 is about the most easy one there is. The bbl nut on the end is replaced with a threaded one that you can get for under $20 on e-bay.

Same story with the GSG-1911. The 1/2x28 adapter just threads on in place of the factory barrel nut. I think my adapter was $22 retail.

My Ruger MKII and Buckmark are far superior to my P-22 in every way except weight. But I enjoy them all with a silencer attached.

I just sold my P22 last week I got a ruger mark III 22/45 it is factory threaded I wish I would have done it years ago. Sold the P22 for 300 got the ruger for 350. I am soooo much happier with the ruger

Oh I have a outback II can, works great with the ruger when I ran it on the P22 it jammed a lot the P22 got dirty fast (200-300) with the mark III I shot a brick with no major issues

sell your P22 find a Ruger Mark III 22/45 you will thank me later

I'm with the Col, factory threaded 22/45 is the way to go. Its is already 1/2 X 28 so there is no need for adaptors. It has basically the same ergonomics as a 1911. Deadly accurate and feels much more solid than the P22. I was not disappointed with my 22/45 and have never known anybody who was

Rugers are never a bad idea in either the Mark series or 22/45. The new 22/45 will even take standard 1911 grip panels if you want to personalize the pistol.

I have two p22s and they are fun little guns...great to acquaint female shooters with basic handling. But I also own five Ruger Mark series guns and two 22/45s, so you can see my preference. I picked up a Tactical Innovations barrel/receiver for one and it is a nice combination; now that the 22/45s are available factory threaded, I will probably pick one up and pull the magazine disconnect out.

I enerally don't like the Ruger MK series guns. However, I had the opportunity to shoot one of the suppressed 22/45 pistols a couple months ago. Not difficult to hit at 50 yards, at all- it felt like shooting a pellet gun. It was amazingly nice. I also had the opportunity to shoot a YHM integrally suppressed MKII or III (I forget) as well. Like the 22/45, it was very smoothe shooting. I had the opportunity to shoot a suppressed P22 in the past, as well, and while the P22 looks cool- I would much rather have one of the Rugers. They felt much better to shoot (and are betters guns in general). I own a GSG. Eventually that pistol is getting a can.

I've been quite pleased with the Buckmark Camper "Whisper" I picked last month. Factory 1/2x28 threaded so no adapter to buy and the magazines were on special from CDNN for $20 each last week. I liked the ATI 1911 too, but man were they "proud" of their magazines....

My MkII and GSG are superior quality wise to any P22 I've ever shot. They both sound quieter than the P22 as well.

I have one of the threaded 22/45s and a P22. I love them both. I've put many thousands of rounds through the P22 with no issues. Kids and folks with small hands really like the P22, it is light and has a small grip.

+1 to the P22. Put thousands of rounds through it with no problem. Mounting a suppressor is as easy as pie too.

I have a P22 for a suppressor host. Nice little plinker. It is pot metal, it can have some rough edges, but it is what it is and plinking with it is fun.

I may pick up a Ruger. They're supposed to be among the quietest of hosts for suppressed .22's.
