Hello users of THR,
New to the forum with a quick question.

Was following a disassembly video for my new P226 and ran into a complication during reassembly. The model in the video was the standard P226R I believe while I have a newer P226 Extreme. The problem I ran into was the part difference between the P226R's Safety Lever and the model I have. I am not sure how it fits onto the Sear Pivot Pin. It's more of an 'L' shape, almost like a boot with the toes down.

Any immediate help would be greatly appreciated.

The Extreme should be the same re-assembly as the regular P226. What you are seeing is the difference between the SRT (short reset trigger) and the standard parts. They should fit into the gun in the same manner as the parts they are substituted for. The SRT safety lever has a longer 'tail'... I can't recall the sear difference. But those are the two parts that change with the SRT. The long part goes down.

Have you looked at YouTube for a video on how to reassemble yet? BTW, don't tell Sig you took it apart...

Does the tail go between the Sear and the Hammer Pivot Pin?

And no there isn't a video that I have found will look into it.

If you look at the schematic (with a magnifying glass and a ouiji board), the safety lever goes on the right side (from the shooter) of the sear and is held in with the sear pivot pin. The little hook part faces towards the muzzle. I seldom take mine down far enough to have to put those parts back together so I'm a little fuzzy on the exact details without taking it apart.

Yeah thats one of two videos that I was using as a guide.

I got the Safety Lever in and now I'm down to the locking insert and it is not going in right and giving me a headache. Was very easy to take out......

I absolutely hate mechanics sometimes. You have to get in a angry mood almost to the point of not caring about the finish to get it in there. Then it just pops in. JUST POPS IN SOMEHOW. grrrrrr

But from this I might make a video review with the little tips included.

Thank you for your help MJ

A bit of a late tip to post but for other people needing help;

The notches on the trigger pivot pin need to face DOWN.

When I reassembled I had them facing up. The Locking block will go in but will not seat correctly and will damage the finish on the frame on the right inside.
