Hey guys-I had a question regarding a P226. I want a more compact grip on mine, and I really don't want to shell out for a brand new gun. I've seen the works of Bill Laughridge at C&S, along with other numerous 1911 smiths, who can essentially chop the grip of metal-framed guns shorter. Bill cut down a Browning Hi-Power by half an inch along with the mags, and some other 1911 smiths have cut down government 1911's to officer-sized 1911 frames. My question is, would there be a problem with doing a similar mod to a P226? I plan to cut right up to the bottom of the mainspring seat, or the bottom of the bottom grip screw holes. No mechanical changes, just taking off "excess" metal.
