You can put P226 mags into a P229 but they will stick out a bit - the P229 SCT magazines are actually made using the P226 15 round bodies. P229 magazines will not fit into a P226 since they are shorter.

I actually don't think P228's and P229's interchange...

But I understand (and somewhat expected) that the P229's don't fit into P226's, but visa versa works.

Now here's the "real" reason I ask; the Keltec Sub 2000 takes P226 magazines, so if I had a P229, logistically would I be good?

The P228 and P229s interchange as well. Don't know anything about the Keltec Sub 2000 so I can't comment about whether they would fit BUT I can put my P226 mags in my P229 and fire the pistol. The only difference is the length and capacity.

UPDATED: just looked at the Keltec... you probably can't use the P229/P228 magazines with it.

Checked on the Sig forums and got an answer.. The P229 magazine is just slightly too short to fit into the magwell of the Sub 2000.. just as it is a little too short to fit into the P226.

I have a 226 and a 228, both in 9mm.
Same magazine only if you stick with 226 magazines for both guns.
15 and 20 shot mags fit and function just fine in the 228/229.
