I have been considering a Sig P239 in .40 S&W. I've had a P220 since 1996 and like it alot. I would appreciate hearing personal experiences from those who own a P239 .

I've got one in 9mm, great shooter. 100% reliable, very accurate. I don't like Sigs contrast sights, 3 dots, are better for me, and the slide release is right where I grip the gun, so the slide wont allways stay back on the last shot. No fault of the gun, just me. Love the single stack grip for ccw, carries better than my G23. By all means get one!:D

I've got 3 P239s, 1 - .40 DA/SA, 1 - 9mm DA/SA, and 1 - 9mm SAS DAK.

Like JD said, single stack mag makes concealed carry very comfortable and they are very accurate. I usually carry my 9mm SAS because I like DAO for carry guns.

239 in 9mm here. My favorite 9mm. Soft shooting and, as has been said, very accurate. Extra magazines are small, slim and easy to carry. You gotta' get the Hogue fingergroove grips (or Nils) for it though to beef up the grip a tad. Makes all the difference.

You should get one.

SIG Freak here

I own nine SIGs, two of which are P239s. I agree with the other posters: the P239 is great. One weird thing I learned is that I bought a Galco Summer Comfort holster for my 9mm P239, and my .40 S&W P239 SAS is slightly too fat to fit in the holster! I would have thought they were the same thickness, but not quite so.

While you're looking at SIGs, may I suggest you try to see one other model that is a new addition to their extensive lineup. The P229R SCT [Super Capacity Tactical]. Basically, it's their standard P229R, but it comes with a fiber optic night front sight, and Tritium rear sights. It also comes with four(!) 17-round 9mm magazines. All in a package not a whole lot bigger (but of course fatter) than a P239. Anyway, congratulations, and Happy Shopping.

Happy With 239

I have the 239 DA/SA in .357 Sig and I have been very pleased with daily IWB. I got mine from a police turn-in (95% condition) and at 1/2 of retail it was a real bargain. I recommend it for carry and its shooting manners and reliability. It does have a bit longer trigger pull than I would like but this is in comparison to a 1911.

239 357 SIG SAS DAK, Carry it everyday. Easiest gun to shoot and carry that I own. The heft and wide girp back make even Winchester Ranger easily managed and the gun is more accurate than ANY of us.

Have had one if .40 for many years. Accurate and stone reliable. It gets carried 80% of the time.

One of the best purchases I ever made.

Nothing but positive responses, I guess I know where the tax refund is going.

i ran 200 rounds thru my friend's. I was thinking of getting one for CCW (i've got a p226). Great pistol, shoots like a champ.

Single stack is great for size, but i wanted more bullets available that what it could offer, so i was looking at a 229 but i got a M&P compact instead (great little pistol!!!)

This is an admittedly BARELY informed opinion, but I rented a 239 9mm for an hour and it didn't do it for me. I was stoked for DA/SA and single-stack thinness. Love my j, but I am looking for a compact auto for carry sometimes...

Seemed very bulky to me... Is it really thinner than a USPc (another gun I've been pondering)?

Admittedly, I didn't measure, but it just didn't feel thin to me. Shot it fine, but for carry it felt pretty fat. When I read it was single-stack I guess I was thinking Kahr-width (or close to it) I guess...

Maybe I'll check out the Walther PPS... It's good to already have one carry gun you love to take the time pressure off of finding another! ;)

[EDIT] just read back through, and even a 239 lover admits it's fat:
The heft and wide girp back make even Winchester Ranger easily managed
Still a great gun, but glad to see I wasn't crazy thinking it was kind of wide...

P239 in 9mm

I like my Sig P239 in 9mm very much. It is the smallest Sig in a serious defensive caliber. The barrel is only 3.6 inches, and the slide is 1.0 inches wide, flat to flat. You can keep the grip thin by putting slim grip panels on (plastic or aluminum) and avoiding the wider rubber or wood. When I compare the P239 to my P229 and P226 it seems quite small.

I have a P239 in 9mm, which I find quite comfortable to carry. My only complaint is that my trigger finger never feels comfortable when shooting. I just feel like my finger is too long. I know that sounds odd, but that is who I feel.

I like mine a lot. Got the 40 but when I tried the 357 Sig barrel and it pretty much has stayed on. Hornady 124 grn XTP are very accurate and still have good control for follow ups. Here it is with a J frame.

Just joined and am not sure of procedure, so forgive any screwups.

I have a 239 9mm with night sites. I am working toward making it my everyday carry. It will replace a S&W model 38.

I picked the 9mm because of the moderate recoil and ability for double tap. When I purchased it several years ago 40 cal was not as strong as it is now.

I find the 239 accurate and easy conceal. I usually carry to "J" frame or the 239 in my right front pocket.

The 239 is a good bet but buy what you shoot well and will actually take with you everyday.

I thought I was a GLOCK only kind of guy until my 239 came along. Now I'm a GLOCK and Sig guy.

Here's mine in 9mm with its Milt Sparks VersaMax holster:

Here's what it looks like with the backup ten round magazine:
