A P7 is definitely on my to-buy list. I don't the have opportunity to handle a P7M13 in California, so I'm wondering how much thicker it is than the M8 at the grips. Can someone post a side-by-side comparison? How's the balance on the M13 vs. the M8?

Since you're in CA, the extra capacity of the M13 is a moot point, as magazines that hold more than 10 rounds are illeagal, unless you had them before 1-1-01. Sucks, don't it?

The M13 grip is quite square. It isn't that much larger than the M8, but it is poorly designed (from an ergonomic perspective). However, if you have square robot hands, the M13 offers 14 rounds in a really compact package. It is certainly smaller than a SIG 229 or H&K P2000.

I have a PSP and an M13. The M13 not only has a thicker grip, but it is also longer. Looks a bit odd compared to the PSP. My dad has 2 M8s and the ergonics are pretty much the same. If I had to do it over again, I'd get the M8. I don't want to get rid of my M13, so this probably means an M8 is in my future. The mags for the M13 (in places where you can own them) are about $100 each (BTW, new production LEO mags run $80 from the only source I could find, so we're not in for much relief when the ban expires). Seems to me there was a thread over at Park Cities Tactical where one of the members took side-by-sides of various angles of an M8 and M13 together.

Thanks, those pictures helped. The P7M13 looks quite a bit thicker and longer, more than the stated dimensions let on.

I've never shot an M13, but I've handled one and the ergonomics were not on par with the M8/PSP and I'm sure with the magazine loaded, would be much more rear-heavy than the other P7s.

The PSP is certainly the most graceful of the 3. I don't really like the M8 mag release, the extended triggerguard, or the heat sheild of the M8 and M13. Of course, I'm obviously in the minority. If I see another PSP, I'm apt to pick it up, although the M8 is on my next to buy list.
