A while back, someone told me about taking a dremel tool to the mag release on their P95. I need that info again, please.

Also, for those who carry a P95 concealed, what type of holster do you use?

Thanks!

I used to carry a P-95 concealed. I had a leather holster than was designed for the Glock 17/19 but it fit the P-95 really well. With a gun as thick as the P-95, you need a holster that fits flat against the body for good concealment. The P-95 is a little bulky but it is light and is not as hard to conceal as some people think.

Ditto firestar's comments on packing a P95. I actually used a cheap-o Viking universal belt-slide holster that fit my P95 like a glove, held it nice and high against the body. If I was still carrying that particular gun, I'd probably use one of Dillon Leather's rigs or something similar.

I cut down the mag release buttons on my P95.
I called Ruger, and talked to a gunsmith.
He said "You wouldn't believe how many people call about that."
He was very helpful and sent me free replacement buttons, in case I messed up the originals.
He gave me the following instructions:

-All directions are given from the rear of the gun, with the muzzle pointed away.-
1. Eject mag and pull slide back, make sure weapon is not loaded.
(You should remove the slide at this point also.)
2. Push the mag release button on the right side forward.
3. Put a small screwdriver behind it and push. It should pop out.
4. Working through this hole, use small punch to hold spring forward.
5. Push left side out.

Reassembly:

1. Use punch to hold spring forward. (Working from right side.)
2. Insert slide-release button from left side. (May have to use mallet to tap into place.)
3. Push right side button into place.

Tips:
1. Get Carbide wheel for Dremel. Buttons are hard metal.
2. For straight cut, cut parallel to back of button.
3. Cut off all but last serration.

Getting the second button out was very difficult, and getting them back in was a bear, but I was able to do it, and am very pleased with the results.
I used a cutting wheel on my Dremel to cut some horizontal grooves in the new flatter buttons. Now they almost look like factory.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes

mini14jac,

Thanks, again! How difficult it to operate the mag release after alteration is done?

Does anyone carry in an IWB holster?

PawDaddy,

Only mag release work I needed was on my P97 when new ... just a tad difficult to get mag to drop .... shop got their smith to ease that - now, ever since, it's great.

Carry?? ....... well, won't be so long now until summer heat gone and then a shirt permits me to put snub away and get back to the reassuring bulk of either the 95 or 97 ... mainly 97 now in fact. I have two choices .. one is Bianchi sho rig . I like that .... very good concealment, pretty good for draw too ... only down side is top elastic strap tends to ride a tad high on neck.

Otherwise ..... it's a Kydex paddle .... suits both 95 and 97 ..... sits pretty well at 3.30 to 4 o'clock ...... and, me being quite broad of shoulder, a lose shirt covers it well ... but access is good and draw is easy.

I cannot get on with IWB .... just don't suit me.
