A surprising, almost favorable editorial in my local newspaper. While only mildly Left (with a hint of Anti undertones) such an article would never appear in the Philly media outlets..............there is hope in PA yet.
"The Issue: Philadelphia Mayor John Street asked state officials to restrict the sales of handguns in the City of Brotherly Love. ................. The problem, of course, is that few of the homicides committed in Philadelphia —or anywhere, for that matter — are committed by people who have a permit to carry a weapon.

And the majority of weapons used were either stolen from their rightful owners or purchased on the street from a less-than-reputable gun dealer. So there is no easy solution.

Street’s call for restrictions not only would target the wrong people — the legal gun buyer — but also could run afoul of the Second Amendment, especially if the restric-tions impact residents in other parts of the commonwealth......................"

Interesting, sort of amazing (almost) in tone. the part that annoyed me was the irony of
if the restric-tions impact residents in other parts of the commonwealth......................"
Few other parts of the Commonwealth have the crime problems of Philadelphia and it would be most ironic if it became harder to get a CHP where one is most likely to need one (i.e. Philly), while the lower risk areas remained unaffected. Rights shouldn't know geographic boundaries . . . . :banghead:
