PA Out of State CCW License Delay?

As with many others, I mailed in my PA out of state CCW license application last month (before the law disallowing mail-in apps came into effect). I sent mine to the Centre County Sheriff Department, as was recommended.

I just wanted to check and see if any of you also mailed in your applications last month, and whether any of you have heard back. Does anyone know the typical turn-around time?

I've heard of people getting them back as fast as 1.5 to 2 weeks, but I figure with the law sunsetting, there may be a delay in their response time due to a rush of applications. Mine's been there going on 3 weeks now, with no word yet.

Not sure what the out of state mail in time is. By law, they are allowed to take up to 45 "business" days to process.
I'm a resident, and it still took 38 in Delaware Co.

Hey speadphreak, yeah I have CCW license in my home state. I followed the PA application to the "T" so they are probably just taking their sweet time, which is fine. I'm sure they have other things to do in addition to sifting through what is most likely a mountain of applications.

I don't really mind, as long at it gets here within a month or two.

I dont have mine back either, and it got there on the 30th. Check hasnt cleared yet either, but I'm not too worried.

I sent my application in on 3/18/2011 and they issued it on 4/1/2011 and I received it back on 4/6/2011 it took about three and half weeks. I sent mine to Centre County Sheriff also. One thing I have been wondering about is the renewal process in 5 years.

Thats 5 years away, and if they dont let me renew I'll find another state that covers PA and get that one instead. I mainly got mine to cover for GA, and I can find one for that pretty easily.

PA CCW license delay

I lived in Centre county, State College, for 24 years. Fortunately, i knew the sheriff and got my CCW in about five working days. Good luck as all university towns tend to be liberal and afraid. There was a great state shooting range in teh barrens just outside State College. Hope it is still there.
