I have a Ruger Old Model Super Blackhawk with the square trigger guard. It raps my knuckle pretty good unless I wrap my hand further around the grip than I usually do.
I have been thinking about installing a Pachmayr grip set on it.
I thought I had one for it- I inherited the revolver and a lot of other stuff.
The grip I have doesn't fit the Ruger but I can't figure out what it does fit.
It is a Pachmayr presentation grip that's a single piece not open in front or back. It installs using a long bolt up through the base of the grip.
Does anyone have an idea what it might fit? I have been looking at the other handguns I have and don't see any that mount grips like that.

Or a GP100.

You're on the right track. Any grip that fills and smooths the gap between the grip frame and that trigger guard, as well as reducing the tendency to rear back in your hand, will greatly improve shooting comfort. The Super B is much more fun to collect than actually shoot. :D

Here's a Dan Wesson with the grip removed:

I will probably get one. The recoil isn't bad- even shooting the Blackhills 300gr ammo.
When I did wrap my hand further around the grip it put more of my trigger finger on the trigger than I like to do. But, I did put 3 rounds dead center touching in the middle of the bullseye at 50 yards using iron sights. I am almost afraid to mess with it with accuracy like that.

Pepperbelly, my SBH was biting my own knuckle as well. I found that the grips were just too skinny for my size of hands. So by the time I got a good grip my fingers were wrapped around too far and were jamming into my palm.

Instead of going with a grip that fills in the area behind the guard I made up a set of fatter grips. They are the same or slimmer at the base but around the "neck" of the grips they are quite a bit fatter. This fixed my grip as now I can hold it and my fingertips for the middle and fourth finger don't quite touch the heel of my thumb. They also helped in another way. The extra area supports the gun better so more of my hand is on contact and able to resist the recoil. As a result the gun doesn't displace itself so far in my grip any more.

And I'm sorry but I don't know where you can get fatter necked grips like mine. But if you like the idea someone more familiar with such things may have a source for you.
