Pact Digital Dispenser & Scale - Video Clip

Here is a video clip of a Pact Digital Dispenser and Scale in action. This dispenser is Pact's latest model with improvements over the first one. In this video I am using Hodgdon's Varget powder throwing 25.5 grains for a .223 load. The dispenser will hit the exact amount most of the time and ocassionally will go over a tenth of a grain. The amount shown on the scale at the end of the dispense may not be the final as it takes a couple of seconds to stablize.

Here is the link for the video - not sure how much bandwidth I have at this site:

No, I don't work for Pact - but I do like the equipment.

I really like this type of equipment for rifle loads and to work up new loads for rifle and pistol.

Just curious about how you use one of these if it occasionally throws 1/10th high. Do you set it 1/10'th below what you need and then hand trickle the last 10th (if it's short) or ?

It depends on how precise you want to be or your needs. You could set it for .1 low and trickle the rest. Of course my scale, like most digital scales I think, have an accuracy of +/- a tenth of a grain anyway. I'm not a benchrest competitive shooter so I can live with a tenth when you are talking about 25 or 46 grains.

Keep on the lookout for sales. I think MidwayUSA had the dispenser and scale as a package deal for a good price.

You can find them fairly frequently in the EBAY auctions, both new and used, and may get a bargain...as I did. But, be careful what you are bidding on...some have separate metering and weighing mechanisms, and are bid separately. (My Lyman 1200 DPS is a single combined unit.)

On my Lyman, the digital readout will quickly stabilize, generally at the weight set, but occasionally one-tenth grain higher or lower. I discard those, reasoning that I am winding up within plus or minus one-half of a tenth of a grain of my target weight. Although the scales come with a calibration weight for use each time you start up, I occasionally checked weights with my beam scale, also calibrated with known weights...have never found an error. If I think I'm getting too much varience...dumping loads too frequently...I'll simply recalibrate, which takes less than a minute.

These automated measures quickly dump most of the target weight and trickle the rest at a decreasing rate until the target weight is reached...additional hand trickling isn't necessary. They are a GREAT saving in time and effort! :)

Great Unit

I got mine last month from Midway and it is great. It even came with a free software download when they have a new release. It saves time. I have an occasional .1 on the low side but more often it is right on. I also verified with a mechanical scale and it is right on. I was a little skeptical at first but my wife had to get me something for my birthday so that is what I requested. I use my loads for bench shooting and it really helps me. If I get on off by .1 I just toss it back in the hopper.
