Painted the dots on my auto pistol...how about doing the whole front post?

I did the same thing, and it works out very well. I can pick up the front sight very easily. As far as painting the whole front sight I would not do it. If it helps you see the front sight better go for it. If it doesn't I would not do it. The rugers and I think some smiths have the whole blade red, it is imbedded plastic I think. I like to keep anything I do on my firearms to a minimum.

The img was sideways when I first posted and Ive flipped the img and uploaded again and its still sideways.Took another pic holding my phone differently and it works.
Glad the magic work or id have to learn to shoot sideways.

My target guns I use Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White Fingernail polish it holds up as long as any paint I've tried and is considerably cheaper too.
I prefer "Whiteout" as you can remove it if desired. I only need to touch up my front sights after every 5 to 8 trips to the range. Normally I just fill in the center of my nitesite so I have a nice size white dot that my eyes can see. On a partridge front sight, I have tried putting in on just the top half as well as the entire back of sight. Both worked equally well but think doing just the top half looks nicer.
Haven't painted it, but I did put one of the Big Dot Tritium Stripe inserts in it.
I also have a Troy Rear Folding Battlesight with tritium inserts, but on a rifle, the rear sights appear to be both a waste of money and more distracting than helpful?
I had a spare AR that I turned into a HD gun.
I haven't tried painting anything yet (but I have all the stuff ready) - did a bit of scrounging on YouTube, and I thought this guy has the most detailed, researched video on painting gun engraving - I'm sure it would work well for sights also?
You might browse around YouTube for videos on sights specifically - I plan on painting some of the engraving on some of my pistol magazines, as some of 'em look awfully darn close, and it can be a pain to find good light and scour the magazine to see what make / caliber it is when I dive into my box of magazines.
He uses Sally Hansen nail polish, and says make sure you use NON-ACETONE nail polish remover. Nail polish should be easier to remove, and some folks say it lasts as well as paint, and that the nail polish colors tend to have more 'pop' than most paints?

I looked at the walgreens through the nail polish selection (yes I looked like a weirdo).
Found the paint I used at a hobby shop. It's red-orange fluorescent.
So far, so good, see how it helps at the next IDPA shoot.

Yeah...I had two elderly black ladies try to pick on me as I was rummaging through the nail polish.
Normally I would keep my mouth shut ('bout guns), but I couldn't resist - I told 'em painting the engravings on my gun magazines should make it much easier to grab a handful of the correct ones when I reach into my box o' magazines.
They didn't say anything else to me...
