I have never liked the look of a stainless steel gun. I just don't. It screams "Oklahoma City Pimp".

So, seeing as everything is in SS, is there anyway to paint it a matte color?

We regularly "paint" Stainless steel firearm parts but it's important to abrasive blast it first. The surface needs to be roughened up so the coating will adhere. I also use a chemical preparation solution but to be honest, I think it's really just a soak cleaner.

I have also seen so called Stainless that could be Parkerized. Obviously, that wasn't real Stainless steel. Somebody once told me that there are varying degrees of Stainless...some is more Stainless than others?? I'm not a metallurgist so I really don't know. I have also seen so called Stainless steel that was really just regular steel painted with a sliver paint! The magnet test will give a good idea if it's real or not.

Because of the discrepancies between what's really Stainless steel and what's only pretending to be Stainless steel, I always run it thru the Parkerizing tank. If it takes, fine. If it doesn't take, I just wash it and continue with the job. Keep yer powder dry, Mac.
