I'm seriously wanting to get the Vz2008 that is on sale at Palmetto state armory, but I've never ordered a gun online. I thought I had heard they were a reputable business but their site says they don't accept any returns on firearms, even for defects. Eventhough I've seen reviews showing the vz to be one of Century Arms better builds, I'd still like to see a little bit better guarantee than that.

Also I also have read that CA 1 year warranty starts once the store receives the firearm, is this still true and would it apply to PSA? Has anyone had experience ordering firearms from here?

Is now a good time to get one of these? $399 seems like a no brainer but then who knows.

Thanks for your help.

I have had a number of good transactions with psa. Just know they ship slowly. If you know that going in and are okay with it then you likely will have a good experience. I ordered a vz and got it out of the box the other day but haven't had a chance to shoot it or really check it out. For $399 I was willing to roll the dice. When I comes to military style guns I think it makes sense to buy ones you want when prices are low and they are available. As we have seen prices can jump and availability can dry up.

LGS had Vz58 with several magazines, sling, bayonet for $450. From quality perspective the rifle was better than Polytech 'Legend' which in equal shape sells for about $1500. I bought old Chinese sheet metal actioned (1.6mm thickness) AKM same price as that Czech rifle. The reason was the gun is a tool and spare parts plus extras are far more readily available. This is of significance for knockabout truck rifle that is going to see lot of shooting with not a whole lot of pampering. I have never done business with PSA, but the price for high quality military part rifle is very reasonable. Having examined one closely I can assure you aren't going to find one for less.

I just got mine in the mail a few weeks ago. Took about 3 weeks to get to my FFL. The only gripe i have about it is the bayonet is a very soft metal. Everything that came to me was brand new/unissued. I had some trouble drifting the sights just because of the coating they painted on the gun, it took me using a vice and two sockets to pop it but it DID come free. It shoots pretty accurate out to 50 yards which is what i was shooting at to help sight in. Have had no failures to fire and it is pretty easy to field strip. I would say take the plunge! It was my first PSA purchase but for around 430$ shipped including FFL fees with 5 magazines i couldnt pass it up

Was that you that started the stuck sight thread? Glad the vice/socket trick worked for you.

Yes that was me. The socket thing worked wonderfully! the sights had to be moved a pretty big amount to the right but it is grouping well. It points well and is pretty light. The magazines are relatively easy to load too. I had some leftover stripper clips from an SKS i used to own that i use for fast loading of magazines but they are a bit loose. I hear that if you buy legit vz58 stripper clips thats not a problem. Cant say if thats true or not but will buy a few just to try it out

Didn't know there was a difference, I'll look out for the vz strippers then. It can't be much more difficult to sight than my ishapore lee enfield (have to take the entire nosecap off) do you have a link to the sight thread in case mine is like that too?

Just ordered. FYI they (palmetto state armory) is has free shipping this weekend! So I got that going for me as well to save another $17. That's $399 shipped (well plus the ffl fee). I looked around a little bit just to be sure, and every where else is either out of stock or $500+

Very excited to finally have something to shoot up all the cheap ammo I keep seeing around. I very much like the features of the VZ and as long as I don't get a lemon I like the features it has over an AK.

I'll update in a few weeks to a month when I get it

Aw man, maybe next week they'll take a page from Czechpoint and pay the FFL, too :D. I think my hand may be forced (which stinks, because there's about four rifles chewing at me)

EDIT: My hand was forced, after all, since I just discovered a local FFL that's 15$ cheaper than what I usually pay :). Gonna try to get my neighbor who's been pining for a VZ after shooting mine onboard, too . This local militia's gonna be rockin' the good stuff when the SHTF ;)
