so I stumbled across this today. palmetto state armory is making the vityaz 9mm AK styled gun. While technically a pistol, who are we kidding? Takes cz scorpion mags and looks cool. I was thinking about SBRing my scorpion, but this is interesting. Hopefully it will have better ergos and trigger than the scorpion.

Anybody know how AK styled guns are about gas to face when running suppressed?

Isn't it still basically just a blowback 9mm "PCC" with an arm brace? It looks cool... but... the market is not exactly short of these guns.

I want one. Makes a lot of sense with a brace.

I seem to recall German police using the semi-auto setting on their MP5s that vast majority of the time. As armed citizens a full-auto SMG for defense is largely pointless as we are responsible for every round we send downrange and a short barreled 9mm carbine is much easier to hit with than a pistol and offers greater firepower and improved recoil control for faster follow up shots.

If the quality is there and the MSRP is below $1000 as quoted I will own one.

It should be $400, but the fun factor is sure there, and they will sell a few at least.

How do you quantify that? Who says it "should be" $400? A new design (and this is new for an American firm) isn't easy to implement. You can't expect Hi-Point prices for a new design that is metal with good wood furniture and any quality to speak of.

Venom007,

I will say that 35 years ago the two German Police units I shot with in training that used MP5s used them in semi only in training, both the MP5 with either stock and the MP5SD (which was scoped BTW). Oddly we did use the MP5k with no stock but an interesting single point sling on full auto, generally a single burst with the short 15 round magazine at light barriers at close range, drop the gun and transition to side arm. Think a quick figure 8 on a closet door or on its side on a sofa/couch. They had a hard time understanding that American police would not just spray such a target during a dynamic entry...….It would appear that Germany at the time had fewer lawyers.

In my direct personal experience, Racking the action of an MP5 in a crowded German Bar got everyone's undivided attention and compliance regardless of the go switch setting.

I do wonder why this otherwise neat AK 9mm "pistol" was not made to use a more common magazine.

I would like to see a comparison test between this and the Romanian PAK-9 imported by Charles Daly and Chiappa.

Plus... Glock mags (and Beretta)

Ok, $500. It won't be expensive to make. :)
I am betting it will be right around $700 Which is still a good deal. This is a new design and the brace alone adds $125 to the gun. They sell their PSAKs for like $600 normally and this will be more than them. Their new MP5 clone coming out will be closer to 1k

I have been impressed with PSA as of late. They have bought forging companies, barrel makers, etc to bring almost all manufacturing in house. They have also stepped up quality control and customer service. Not the PSA of old and I am willing to pay a little more for that.

I saw a recent review of their new pa65 and that was impressive as well. It was shooting sun moa out of the box and the lower was nicely finished with a two stage trigger and the upper included an adjustable gas block. They are definitely keeping themselves relevant

The scorpion magazine is pretty good. And cheap. $20. Currently made, and there are aftermarket companies making them too. And its the right shape for an ak. It's really not a bad choice.
I know everybody goes on and on about Glock mags, and they're good, but they're designed for a tilt barrel pistol. The feed angle is pretty steep, they look goofy in a rifle, the single stack to double stack transition is harder to load than a true double stack..... Again, before anybody gets their panties in a twist, Glock mag is a good mag, just not nessiccarily the best mag for every application.

I agree, the decision to use a mag that looks like it belongs in an ak is absolutely perfect. And it's not like the cz mags are bad either. There are lots of glock mag pistols out there, i for one am glad this one isn't one of them.

Got me interested, as goin kinda nuts on these sub gun firearms now. Wouldn't mind adding this to my Arsenal, thank god they didn't go with Glock mags, it will look retarded Jk
As mentioned above using the scorp mags does give it more traditional look

I agree 100%, I have no interest in using a pistol mag in a carbine unless it goes in the grip. The true double stack mags are way easier to load and don’t look as goofy.

CZ Scorpion mags are fairly available, very inexpensive, and designed for carbines/submachine guns, so I think it was a good choice, personally.

Agreed, Glock or any other pistol mag would be a deal breaker for me.
The fact that it doesn't have goofy looking mags coming out the bottom are a big part of why I like it I think.

Under 800 sign me up over 800 I’m still interested but seriously does psa even sell anything over 800? Quality guns at a bargain price I’m a big fan
