I noticed today that when I finish a mag the silde locks back, when I insert a new and slap it home the slide automatically chambers a round without using the slide release.

While I like this.....I don't think it's right. What do I need to check? Will this harm the use of my pistol if I continue to use as is?

Could be a couple things.

Your recoil spring might be weakening, allowing the slide to bounce off the stop when you seat the mag.

Either the notch in the slide or the spur on the stop may be slightly out of spec, resulting in a less than desired mate between the two surfaces.

In order of probability, the spring, the stop out of spec, then the frame notch being out of spec. How many rounds out of this pistol?

Less than 400 if the seller was honest, he said he shot 200, i've maybe shot 100 maybe. Extra 100 for miscalculations.

Can it cause some kind of important malfunction.......slamming mag home and it's ready to go isn't a bad thing imho unless it cause a problem down the road.

I had a Para GI Expert, magazines were problematic, try a decent magazine like Colt or Kimber. Never warmed up to my GI Expert, traded it toward a Colt series 70, don't miss it.

As long as it is picking a round up off the magazine, as it slides forward, it is fine.

Loved my Para GI Expert, had zero problems with it, sold it to as friend's father. Still runs 100% with stock mags.
