I have a buddy with a Para Ordnance P12 that he is thinking of selling. Anyone have any experience with them? He really likes it and has carried it for years but needs money. I have shot it some and seems like a good firearm. For those not familiar with them it is a 12 round capacity mag, compact 1911 style pistol.

try a search on para ordnance. Some here despise them with the intensity of a supernova, others have had no issues. I'm one of the latter.

I'm one of the two latter/non-latter groups but am unique in that I have no opinion......but tell me, how do they sell tens of thousands if they aren't a usuable nor functioning arm ?
seems nearly anyone can build a 1911 ( south america, small islands, tiny new york firms, even 18 yr.old army privates with little training) , so why not a company with decades of experience and tons of resources, even if it is a South Carolina/Canada mix?
really, why couldn't they?
seems like they do, but I don't know because I can't afford one.....

My experience with one I tried several years ago was not good - it seldom fired more than two consecutive shots without a stoppage and ate a hole in my hand - but since you indicate a known owner and reliability history, I see no reason not to buy it if you like it.

There are good ones and bad ones, if your buddy is trustworthy (I'm not saying he isn't), then there is no reason why you shouldn't buy it if you like it.

On my ParaOrd P-13, I am religious about changing-out the magazine springs regularly by keeping a written round-count and spare springs on-hand. Almost all of the failures I had with my P-13 were magazine-related. By changing mag springs every 1500 rounds, I have stopped having issues with the gun. Mine isn't a carry gun though so YMMV.
