What do you think of the Para Ordnance P14 - 45SR; rate it from 1 - 10, please explain, I'm looking for good input.

Fellow Arkansan here! I have no experience with that particular PO but I do have an older P-14 (prior to the lda models) which I like very much. It is a very accurate, 100% dependable .45 that is a joy to shoot. Mine has been 'tweaked' a good bit by the previous owner but many of the mods were 'insurance' and cosmetic type mods. I do not find the extra size to be a problem at all and in fact carry it sometimes in a Milt Sparks summer special holster.

Hope this helps somewhat and maybe you will get input from folks familiar with that particular model.

I bought a P14 LDA, liked it but couldn't get over the DAO action. Traded it on a P14.45 Limited in stainless. Liked it enough I bought another when I found a good deal on one. (and everyone needs a two gun rig, right?)

I also have a P13.45 in blue.

Rating 1-10, I give it a 9 and that only due to the cheap plastic mag catches Para insists on using. If you buy a Para, buy a metal mag catch at the same time and save yourself some trouble.

I am somewhere in the 8-9000 round range through my Paras (combined) I have never had one hiccup or refuse to feed any type of ammo. Other than the mag catch problem I think they are outstanding guns.

Go get one.

I cary a P-13 that I had NP# applied to by Robar. I used to shoot a P-14 LImited in USPSA and IDPA. They are nice guns that are easy to get stuff for. I dont like single stacks because they dont feel right. The paras are nice because you wont spend what you would on a STI or SV for a double stack. I say about a 7-8. (A 10 is a sweet gun that is perfectly fitted by a gunsmith)

As a former Para-Ord owner, I'd say to avoid them. Worst gun I ever owned by a fair margin was a P14-45.

I have owned 5 over the years (currently still have 3, 2- P13's and a P14 limited) and they are great guns .They feed better than any of my single stacks .My favorite being the P13 stainless it has 15,000 rounds and counting through it.
AS far as parts replacement I have only had to replace a barrel bushing in one due to parts failure.
I use them mainly as range guns due to the weight .I prefer single stack guns for carry use, although i carried my P13 for 4-5 years before going to the single stack route with the Colt Defender.
The accuracy is on par with my Kimber Golmatch and I seem to shoot it better than the Kimber also.
A lot of people like to cry about the use of mim parts but in my case they hold up well in the para the only thing I usually change is I add a Ed brown beavertail .
Just check the one out you are purchasing and make sure it is right from the factory and you should be set.

I don't think Painted Ordnance necessarily produces a higher percentage of lemons than other gun makers, but when they produce one that is screwed up, it's usually screwed all the way up. A friend liked to joke that they must save up all their defective parts over the course of the week and assemble them into 100% defective guns on Friday.

That being said, my P-12 was 100% satisfactory, and my landlord has never had a hiccup from his P-12. Give the gun a thorough going over before you buy it, and you should be happy.
