Changed out the stock & forend on the Pardner with the Hogue 12" LOP. Sort of a shame. The stock-stock was very high quality and thick. Recoil pad screwed on with machine screws into brass inserts. Thick material. The Hogue is much thinner, recoil pad not as nice and screws on with "drywall" type screws into plastic.

Anyway, here she is. I like to run 'em "nekkid".

Here's an idea of how much the gun was shortened. It's noticeably lighter now too.

This piece was under the original stock. The protrusion on the Hogue was thicker and I had to remove this spacer to let the Hogue slip in flush. MAX or anyone else, will this piece being out hurt anything?

The Hogue is a nice stock.

It looks good, what are you asking???? If you like the fit and feel who cares what others think?

I couldn't get the Hogue forend on mine, too tight.

Hags, I was just sharing my experiences/observations about the setup. The only thing I was asking was if that piece of metal I was holding was anything more than a stock spacer. Thanks, dom1104. It looked like it was just a spacer.

Hags, I had a heck of a time getting the forend on. I ended up using some medium grit sandpaper on the inside of it near the forward end. There was a ridge of plastic in there. I spent about 10 minutes sanding on it and it went together, although it was VERY snug.

At least you figured out how to get it on.

I didn't want to force it or resort to having to fit it. Not a big deal, if it went on without a problem I woulda left it.

It does look good on yours.

Oh, missed the spacer question. I assumed since the Hogue was in without it you didn't miss it.

Your Hogue should've come with a plastic piece near the buttsplate to increase cross sectional rigidity. With that in place they are stronger than the stock 870 Express buttstock and also the Speedfeed buttstocks.

I like 'em, I have a full length one on an 870 build. I left the stock forend though.

Hags, the forend wasn't that big of a deal to fit. just a few minutes scratchin' around the inside of the forward area with some 100 grit sandpaper wrapped around my finger. Plastic sands down really quickly. It was worth it for me because the original forend was long, thick and heavy.

I was more impressed with how substantial the original Pardner furniture was than anything. MUCH better than on a synthetic 870 Express.

That Pardner furniture may just wind up on an old Wingmaster bird gun that I have.

The HAWK 982 and Pardner Protector are built for heavy use and abuse.

Which was already stated you don't need the spacer. The forend metal tube is a little larger in diameter than the one on the 870 so minor fitting is require but you end up with a nice snug fit which is good.

I have a Hogue forend on mine and like the looks, how feels & preforms. The Hogue butt stock is well made also and looks nice. The 12" LOP is too short for me.

Good post it answers some questions the Pardner Pump owners have.
