And, Shootin', Longeyes thinks you have spent way too much time reading the Pan-Islamic Handbook, aka OneThink for Dhimmis.

Do I see a "race war" coming? Only if we continue on the path we're on now. That means social welfareism-cum-multiculturalism.

I would not mind giving Southern California back to Mexico or anyone else who wants it. I've never been comfortable being in the same union with that place. For me, growing up in Oregon, the invaders from the south who would not assimilate and who destroyed my state were not Mexicans but rather rich, Anglo Kalifornians. I hate them very deeply, and in the right circumstances I wouldn't mind going to war and killing them. They overran and destroyed my homeland. It makes me sick to think I'm living under the same flag as those people from the south. I have a lot more in common with a Mexican illegal who comes up here to work.

You're not the guy from Oregon who called me a Californicator--he saw my license plates--the first time I was up in the NW (long, long ago), on Lopez Island? Naw, couldn't be.:)

Europe as a whole is in trouble..... But I don't think the US is in better position. 911 is the best example. Islam and western world (with christian values) do not go well together, and we should see that Islam wants to take over the world.... If we fail to see that we will loose.....

Well, not only are the comparisons invalid, but many Romans WELCOMED the Goths, who were in many ways far more civilized than the decadent, death-worshipping elite of Rome who lived for arena games.

The French are liberal, are terrified of anything resembling force (obviously) and aren't welcoming the rioting.

And those riots will continue until Dominique (Who is male) de Villepin figures out who to surrender to.

must we continue to see mexican immigrants as an outside force? Southwest US is intricately tied to Mexico. by geography and economics. Can I ask readers to consider for a moment that there is no us vs. them. there is only us.

Then I hope we realize that what's good for us (no more state-sponsored welfare) is good for all of us (mexican immigrans included). So we can move forward and target state-sponsored welfare as the evil corruption.

I'm not sure how to apply this similar argument to islam. I see that both islam and catholics have a single holy book, a single deity, a prophet in the story, and demand obedience/faith from its practitioners. There are a lot more in common than different say compared to Hindu or Taoism.

PAT BUCHANAN <-------- I love that guy :) A lot of people think he's a kook, but I guess that makes me a kook too. In the end we'll see who's had the correct predictions, not that it'll matter. But at least we can say "I told ya so", that'll make it all worthwhile

Well, yes. But I also think he's a CROOK. Remember how to tell a false prophet?

I like the idea: does that mean we can buy Mexico's beach resorts and buy into Pemex?

We cannot be all "us" so long as some of "us" are here illegally. If you are here illegally, you have broken the law, period.

Then I hope we realize that what's good for us (no more state-sponsored welfare) is good for all of us (mexican immigrans included). So we can move forward and target state-sponsored welfare as the evil corruption.

And that is where the disconnect is. I am certain there are many illegals that just want to earn a buck and hopefully build a better future for themselves by otherwise legal means. But there are also many, including their politicians, that exploit the weaknesses in the system for their own benefit at the expense of the taxpayer. For such, your argument is outright wrong. Even the ones that don't meant to, abuse the system by using social services paid by the taxpayer without really being entitled to them or paying taxes themselves.

EDIT.... may have been misconstrued as "bashing" a certain religion...

I would argue the Christian and Islamic faith are not as compatible as you seem to think. However, this IS America, and people should leave their old bigotries and hatreds at the border. I think this country is largely a fantastic success in that regard, and would hate to see that change, regardless of whom is to blame.

Hey, I think we should have built a wall on the border like Tom McCall advised back in the 1970's.
