I found a neat looking Parker Hale model 1200 6mm rem at a gun shop recently

it has a dark wood end on the stock possibly rosewood

heavy blued barrel and nice high power simmons scope

the stock looks rough and there is light wear on the barrel

id like to know a rough value and ill put pics up in a day or so when i can find my camera.....they are asking 300

thanks

The 1200 is a good rifle, but not a premium rifle

Generally (and this is a gross generalization) worth about $100 more than its counterpart in a Remington 700.

Depends entirely upon bore condition. 6mm doesn't really burn up bores, but it could be shot out. If so, it's only worth a hundred for the action. If the bore is near perfect, then it is certainly worth $300 if you're happy with the stock and you like 6mm Rem.

6mm Rem is nearly obsolete, isn't it? Not completely obsolete, but it sure is becoming obscure. Pretty much the same as 243 Win.

The scope isn't worth much.

Oh, by the way. See if you can figure out the rifling twist. Remington made theirs in such a slow twist that it only worked for tiny bullets. That was the value of a Winchester in 243, the faster twist rate made it good for 90 and 115 grain bullets for deer. The 6mm Rem was pretty much just a gopher gun with very light weight bullets.

well the 1-12 that remington used could handel upto around 90grns. This is the original .244 when they swticed to the 6mm name they also swtiched to 1-9 twist. The rifle may have either as i dont know anything about parker hale guns. The 6mm also has about 100-150fps on the .243, and imho is a cooler cartridge. Cases can be made from any number of other rounds so availability isnt a real issue if you handload.....now do i own on...no, i own a .243, tho id like to get one if i can. I had another thought, the .243 is a bit of a barrel cooker, im sure the 6mm would be just as bad or worse...just a thought.

Parker hale 1200 6mm Rem

It is true that the .244 would only shoot 80 or 90grn bullets accurately, but when reintroduced as the 6mm that problem was fixed. My father in law, and 2 brother in laws along with myself and my husband have been shooting the 6mm since 1975. In our opinion the 6mm is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Oh yeah the cartridges are no problem to find in our area. If you want what everybody else in the world has by a .243 but if you want something creative and different buy a 6mm. I promise you won't regret it!!!!

I really appreciate the info and help i will check out the twist on it im pretty sure its a faster twist though and the bore looked great.......6mm is kind of obsolete as you said but i can still get it for like 24 bucks a box locally and it would make a great varmint gun

6mm is not hard to find at all. We still use our 6mm for deer hunting model 600 amazing little gun. Our neighbor has a 6mm to. Very accurate and never had a problem.

If you decide not to get it please let me know. My dad is looking for another gun since his was from his dad and wants to retire it. It would be a lot easier to get another 6mm :)
