All,

I picked up a Parker Hale Enfield No 4 recently. I'm trying to figure out it's date of manufacture. On the receiver band between the for-end and buttstock I'm only seeing "England" stamped on it. Normally, I have see dates there.

It does have the 300/600 battle sights so I'm thinking sometime around the 1940s.

The wood stock has been replaced with a black plastic one so no help there.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks

Parker Hale is still in business but their not much help on old product information. The mid-50s to early 70s was the time many Lee Enfields were recycled into the cheap sporter market. Yours being a P-H gives it a bit more collector value.

Look on the left side of the receiver and the wrist. What is the serial number? The Faz No4 MkI was produced til mid 49 then the MkII till 55. The Long Branch MkI* til early 50's. BSA and Maltby stopped in 45, Savage in 44.
