Parkerization touch-up?

Hello,

I bought a rebuilt/refinished M1 from Garand Guy (GG). It arrived with 2 chips in the parkerization down to bare metal on the receiver. GG says he's mailing me some "touch-up". I didn't realize park. could be "touched-up". Is there a specific touch-up chemical for park. or is he perhaps sending me a Sharpie marker or a bottle of grey-green plastic model paint?

Unless it's something really new, there is no touch-up for parkerizing.

Most people use ordinary cold blue which darkens the scratches, making them less noticeable, but the blue color itself doesn't match the gray to charcoal gray color of parkerizing.

Thanks. Thats what I figured. I'm probably going to ask for a few bucks back from the guy to compensate for the damage. Why buy a refinished gun if its going to come with chips in the finish.

OK guys........putting on flame suit.

Black Rust-o-leum BB paint

Get out the masking tape.
Tape what you don't want painted.
Clean area real good
Heat to 100-125 degrees

Two or three light coats should cover up the boo-boo.

I used this a couple of times on my AR and I honestly can't see the repair unless I look real hard. It holds up very well.

If you can find out what type of Parkerizing was used, and specifically what brand of solution was used you can touch it up. All you have to do is clean off all the oils and re-park the damaged area. I would sooner send it back and have him touch it up that try to match it myself.
