I have a tactical shotgun with a matte, black-phosphate (parkerized)-type finish on it... there are a couple of scratches down to bare metal... is there a touch-up product which will cover the scratches and blend in fairly well?
The only touch-up products are cold blues.
The color the metal a blue-black color, and can help conceal scratches, but WON'T do a good job on larger areas, since the color doesn't match.
Birchwood Casey makes a product called Aluminum Black that will also work on steel. On a black parkerized gun, if done according to instructions, you can't even tell where you touched it up. It was recommended to me by a master gunsmith, I tried it and it works.
Thanks, guys.... I'm going to go with the B-C Aluminum Black...
rbernie... sounds like a great solution to a well-scratched barrel! Mine only has a single scratch on the barrel and going onto the mag tube (happened during handling in the store while the gun was waiting to be sold! Got a 5% discount because of that. Whoopee.)
