I am looking to replace the MSH, slide stop, mag release and safety (and make it ambi) on a SA Range Officer. My problem is I can't seem to locate these parts that are non-MIM and parkerized. Anyone know where to locate these items? I have looked in the usual places, but only to find SS or blued.

Thanks All

well i guess you could always buy the blue parts,,blast and park them to get what you want,,,lol,,, sometimes you have to chase the dog around the tree to catch him ;)

SS or blued are all you will find unless you go to a place that sells milsurp parts. (you don't want them). You can either buy a park kit and do the parts after you fit and deburr them and they probably won't match the gun or live with blued parts on a parked gun. Or buy a park kit and do the whole gun when you are finished customizing it. Bummer I know, but it's da way it is.

You can Park them yourself for a minimum of cost with mostly ordinary materials. Go over to the Surplus Rifle BB and look under the Metal Care and Cleaning forum. There are detailed instructions there for Parking at home. Really, the hardest part is bead blasting. The process of Parking is super easy.

Park parts

I just put a .45 together and parkarized all the parts in Zinc Phosphate (supplies where $40 including shipping from Lauer Weaponry.) All turned well except the thumb safety; local gunsmith thinks that it may have had too much nickel in the part. I will attempt again but with little hope. (You can see gun on my "1911 Target Build" thread and pictures are on Photo bucket. Total cost was $40 plus a stainless steel pot and some of my wife’s kitchen stuff (this will cost me more than money.)
