Anyone have experience with the ParOrdnance 45. A friend of mine has one he's selling. He said it's nice but too big in his hand. I'm a 1911 fan and the pistol fits my hand fine.
Any opinions? They have any issues?

I shot them for a long time. Great guns. Have since moved on to Glock then Sig but the PO's were very good. I do have one that's pretty worn in the sear so it automatically double-taps ... it's a feature!

Story on P.O. I always heard was that if you get a reliable one they were great, but it was hot or miss if ya get a good one.

I have Remingtons version, which Im told is pretty much the same and mine is a fantastic shooter

Okay, I'm back with another question. This Para Ordnance has a box and papers that state "made in USA" and some place in North Carolina. Not Canada and not by Remington. So is it a thearetical "good" pistol?

I had a Canadian one. I sold it to fund other guns, and regret it now.

It ran fine and shot well. I think the USA ones were quality as well.

If the price is right, they are fun. Compare it in price to the new Remington minus a couple bucks.

Maybe, maybe not. Canadian ones were good to go IMO. I have had 3 and still have a limited. What model is it? doublestack or single stack magazines? I'd be wary, personally.

A while back I bought a Para Ordnance GI Expert in stainless and it has been a really good gun. The mags that came with it weren't the best, but I called Para and they replaced them.

I have a para p45 and love it! It's a very early one, with a WG prefix in the serial, indicating it was sold as a frame only. My dad built the rest with mostly Colt pieces. It's been a beater it's whole life (it was even shot by a 357mag once upon a time, then repaired) so it's pretty banged up, but she runs great.

It is a big pistol, so I can see how a lot of people may not like it.

Have you had a chance to handle it? Will he let you fire it?

Classmate of mine has one and won't stop bragging about it so I assume it runs fine for him. I've never seen or held one so take it however you will.

I have a Para GI Expert. It has been a safe queen for the vast majority of its life, since it is a commemorative pistol. The times I have shot it, it was driving tacks into pie plates and paint cans at 50 yards. I was warming up to buy another one for carry when Remington bought the company. Now I won't go near them or any of the copied designs. I keep my eye out for an older model though.

I think this one I looked at is pre-remington. It doesnt have "Remington" marked anywhere on the pistol or box and papers. I think it's MFG is after 2009 though. When did Remington take over.

Some of the para models have the PXT 2 piece extractor. They can be problematic... their are fixes to either sleeve the hole and use a standard extractor or upgrade to the EGW 1 piece extractor that fits in the big hole.

I upgraded my Carry 9 to the EGW unit which fixed all my issues... I love it now

I have a Para GI Expert. I got a great deal on a gently used one from my sister-in-law.

It's plain, but it works just fine. It eats any load I feed it including my poorly crafted reloads.

I have a Para Carry LDA that was made in Canada. I love the LDA trigger and have never had a problem with it. I confess that though I carry it sometimes I haven't fired more than 500 rounds through it in about 10 years. It does recoil stoutly!

I've got a 14-45 Match long slide. I'd replace the mag springs with a set Wolff springs. Wound up replacing the " ambidextrous safety"
with a standard one that works. IF you are going to holster carry the pistol, you may want to look into installing a mag release which
doesn't protrude so far.

Para moved from Canada to North Carolina in 2009. In 2012 Para was purchased by Cerberus. In 2015 Para production was integrated into Remington's new Alabama operation. Para no longer exists as a brand.
