A few years ago I inherited my Grandad's old Remington 721. It was made in 1952, and shortly thereafter Grandad put a Lyman aperature sight on it. I know that current production aperature discs will fit it, but I'm missing the knob for the elevation adjustment, and the newer knobs don;t look anything like the old ones at all. Anyone know where a guy could get a replacement elevation knob for such and old sight? I'd like to fix the rifle, but I really don't want to make any modern "upgrades" to it. It was good enough for Grandad to take MANY deer with over then years, so why mess with a good thing?

I recently got two Lyman 57 SME sights off of ebay for about $35 each. They are steel and very well made, but you might be talking about the older 47 sight. It had finger adjustable knobs (knurled). The 57's you need a coin to adjust. Bad news is that the 47's are going for upwards of $150 each. I also got an older Redfield sight that has the knurled knobs, but it's to tall for my 98. If you post some photos, maybe we could get a better handle on what you're needing......

I'd post a pic, but my camera just went belly up. From what you describe, I think I have the 57. The knob is rounded and very smooth with a slot that is sized right for a coin on the head. There appears to be a lock screw on the side, or maybe that's what holds the knob on?

I have had good luck finding old gun sight parts on E-bay, Numrich Gun Parts, and old gun shops or gun smiths.

There was a guy selling replacement screws on evil bay. A retired machinist, he made these high quality screws at a reasonable price. I bought several a few years ago, not sure if he still lists them.
