Patch cutting sizes?

I'll get the felt "plugs" from either Brownells or Amazon. The plain white plugs in 500 count bags and the more aggressive green plugs with bronze impregnated ribbons in 80 count bags.

Interesting. I see the plugs at Brownells but how about the weed whacker pull through?

Cotton t shirt material : 3" squares for 44-50 caliber. Also work well for wiping down barrels mags etc
2" square for 30 to 40 caliber
1" square for 22-25 caliber

I more or less follow the pattern on my old flannel shirts. I cut along the big squares for bigger bores, and smaller squares for smaller bores.

This is going to sound weird, no one should be surprised coming from me. I have in the past used an actual cookie cutter with the edge sharpened up in a shop press to cut patches from old t shirts . that worked fine, the best ones were star shaped but it was too much like work to cut patches to cut patches out of. Now I just cut a piece off an old shirt and if it's too big, I cut some off. Nothing fancy. I don't use many patches anymore, my go to is a copper chore boy and some atf. I rip off a wad and ram it down the barrel a few times, if I'm feeling fancy I'll soak it in atf first. I finish with a few cotton patches but I find the chore boy does it all and better than a bore specific brush.
I haven't bought gun cleaning items for about 10 years and I'd bet money no one could tell my clean gun from some guy using the latest super tactical slippery frog mutant dog lube. I laugh at the hype with all that stuff. I don't contend with copper fouling so I can't comment on removing that. But I use very few cotton patches anymore.
