I was getting the feel of my new pumpgun (see shotgun forum) and after I ran out of ammo (and had enough abuse) I want into the gunshop part of the shooting range. Did not want to go home right away and started to converse with one of the salesmen (don't worry everybody got waited on I made sure of that).

On a slow moment he showed me a tactical light/laser that hooks on to one of those new fangled tupperware wonders... the light cost as much as a new S&W 642:what: . At that time I looked at the bottom shelf reserved for used acquisitions and I saw what I thought was a nickled Colt Detective Special with a 2 1/2' Barrel. The salesman saw what I was gazing at and checked it then put it on the counter in front of me.

It indeed was a Colt but it was a Police Positive Special. The barrel was apparently bobbed to 2 1/2" and the piece was not factory nickeled. I tryed the action and it had the familar Colt DA stacking (had a Colt OP and a 1917 before) and everything lined up. Other than the nickeled finish and cut barrel it was in very good condition with standard wood grips.

I told the salesman I did not have enough to put it on lay-a-way but he persisted..... and I relented and gave him what I had to hold it. Oh the price..... $175. Oh well my H&R 622 needs a companion besides my Ruger Mk I. It's getting dangerous to go in to the gunshop these days:p :D .
