Iggy,

I'd carry that one every day to!

Life is short... enjoy what you have each day, every day.

These threads tug at me. I have a refinished Victory Model S&W in the safe. The government markings were all but obliterated when it was previously refinished and it was not taken care of well after that. The original grips are long gone. I rescued it from a pawn shop a few years ago and shoot it from time to time just to enjoy that long action trigger pull.

These old fighting guns are often in a condition to be of little or no value to a collector, but they deserve a second lease on life.

I'm waiting for the day to have very similar work done to it. I'll have mine cut to 3" to keep the full length ejector rod, bob the hammer, and round the grip frame.

Thanks for the heads up to your smith as it looks like he does great work.

I got a warm fuzzy from the pics. Thank you for taking time to share your treasure with us all.

I managed to snag one of these 1917's myself in excellent condition. I honestly dont think its broken in yet, I love the old guns so much. Good for you friend.:D

I think it looks wonderful, I always had a thing for the 45acp revolvers and you just stirred it up again for me OP.

Everyone else, its his gun, if you don't like what he did, go buy your own and do your own thing with it. Sure they might be sorta limited but its not like its the only one.

A worn six-gun past its usable service life reworked by a master and carried by a man who appreciates it has its own kind of provenance.

Wow, I LOVE big holes and that is a great one to carry. Thanks for sharing. If I find a good 1917 I would like do something similar.

The photo of the holstered gun is just awesome!

I'm with you. Nice job, and nice holster, and I hope you enjoy it for years to come.
