I have not been to many pawn shops lately but stopped by one yesterday and looked at the rifles. They had one for $89 and I asked to see it. It was a 1967 browning t bolt 22lr with a scope in a easy 95% condition. Oh yeah it was left handed also. Being made in belguim also. they had a 10/22 for $199 so you can guess which one I bought.

Had to take it home.

Make sure to check under the stock for heavy rusting. I read somewhere that early T-Bolts had some type of salt-cured stocks, which is obviously bad news for metal. Other than that, they are excellent rifles.

For that price to be right the gun would have to be rusted all over, inside and out. The asking prices I've been seeing have been in the $900 range. There's a NIB lefthanded Deluxe model on gunsamerica for $1450.

Nice find. Or steal as it were.

I also have a left handed 60's vintage Browning T-Bolt my dad was wise enough to pick up used back in the early 70's...they are SWEEEET!

If you don't see any visible corrosion or pitting in the area where the barrel fits into the stock you're probably OK. However, you can easily check by removing the stock from the barreled receiver and it'll either look like hell, in which case you've got a saltwood stock - or it'll look normal and you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. Even if you do have a saltwood stock all is not lost, it won't affect the function or accuracy of the rifle.

Nice find! :)

I have been looking all over for one(right handed) as that is what I learned to shoot on. Some guys have all the luck. By the way anybody here got one that they are wanting to sell?

Thanks guys I guess we all get lucky sometime it was just my turn. I have not taken it out of the stock yet but there is no rust or pitting any place I can see. Actually not a stratch on the blueing at all. Maybe being here in Colorado's dry air it may not of affected it as much? The bore is bright like new and the bolt face does not look to of been fired much at all. still nice and bright like new.
The weaver rings and K4 scope are nice also. will have make the rounds again on thursday and see if I missed anything.

Cypress, FN is making an updated and somewhat improved version of the T-bolt right now. It has a very nice wood stock with checkering and a flush-mounted helical-feed 10 rd. mag a la the 10/22.

Price is competitive with a what a nice "Deluxe" original in decent condition would cost and you wouldn't have to mount a Quest to find it.
