Picked up a Marlin 925R this morning at the local pawn shop for $55 otd. Didn't particularly need it, but I never had a 22 bolt action, or a 22 for Thursday's, so it seemed like a good fit for the money. The gun is not in perfect condition on the outside, but it shoots fine and fits behind the seat of the truck.

Now I need a good of a scope as reasonable for a $50 rifle. I was thinking something like a 4x32(do they still make them?). Glass doesn't have to be great, but I would like it to hold zero.

What do yall think for a scope? No hard budget, but no $500 scopes on this one please.

If you want a red dot the BSA ones are about $30 and provide quick target acquisition and seem to hold up fairly well for their price. For a magnified scope you can probably pick up a used weaver K4 pretty reasonably ($50 or less).

There are several good .22 scopes on todays market. I think I have one or two laying around the place. I think one is a Simmons 3x9 with a 30 lens and the other is off a Remington 700 that was a 4x12 with a 40mm lens. My point is it doesnt have to be much to make a good .22 into a great shooter. Personally I prefer the old flip up peep sights, but to each his own.

I just got a Nikon Prostaff factory-refurbished 4x32 scope from Natchez for $69. Honestly, except for the packaging (a plain gray box stamped with the label "Refurbished Product"), you would not know that it isn't brand new. The scope, the included rings, scope bra, and documentation are all absolutely pristine.

Give Midway a look, I just received a gun blast email from them, lots of items on sale, Larry's gotta have an inexpensive scope lying around!

I got a 3-9 32mm Simmons 22 Mag from Sportsmans Warehouse a few days ago to go on my Marlin 795. The scope was $39.99 and there's a 25% mail-in rebate from Simmons going on right now. Haven't tried it out on the rifle yet, but I think it's going to be okay. I think they had the fixed 4x 32mm for a few dollars less.

...think I'd be jumping on one of those refurbished $69 dollar Nikons...

Just sayin'.

Ordered the nikon. Thanks fellas.

I think you'll be happy with the scope... :)

This is the second factory-refurbished Nikon product I bought (also got a pair of binoculars some years ago), and they all seem to come looking brand spankin' new and performing likewise.

If you haven't already, you might want to look at this comparative review of .22 rimfire scopes from Chuck Hawks' Website:

http://www.chuckhawks.com/compared_rimfire_riflescopes.htm

The Nikon 4x32 scope only loses out by a slight margin to Sightron and Leupold scopes that cost 3-4 times more.

Walmart... Centerpoint scopes. $55 to about $70 for the ones I bought.

I have three of these scopes, one I bought used at a pawn shop for $35.00. It's on a .357 magnum carbine at the moment so I know it will handle more than a .22LR.

The 3-9 power is very well suited to .22

They come with flip up scope covers and ringmounts, some have lighted reticles.
