I’m fully intent on buying a SP101 in .357 w/ a 3 inch barrel. Every Ruger and S&W I’ve ever handled (old and new) have been immaculate. The Ruger’s have had coarse triggers; but both are top tier firearms makers, in my opinion.
Im glad you have had great luck with your purchases ... But .. I myself have had a different experience with new model Rugers ... and I have heard and seen a few to many horror stories from newer production S&W revovlers .. canted barrels , cracked frames , out of spec cylinders ... and this is from S&W forums ....and LGS...

Id lean toward S&W large frames over a GP100 .. A few years ago my choice would have been totally different..

But if you do get a new SP101 .. check for canted barrel and crane & frame fit ..also check for cylinder drag ..
But Im sure you would on any gun purchase

But I wouldn't swap my ole Security Six for a new GP100 ... wouldn't happen ..

Hopefully ALL gun makers will get alot more diligent in quality control...

A revolver is a complex piece of equipment....

And I agree S&W & Ruger are top shelf guns ... But QC is lacking
