I'm looking to pick up a camo coated 12 gauge to use for wild turkey and waterfowl hunting. I'm considering the Mossberg 535 or 835, or the Remington 887. I can't stir up any used offers, so I've turned to the local pawn shops.
Today I came across a gun that the clerk told me was a 24" bbl 835. It had an "extension" at the end of the barrel that had holes in it. I asked the clerk if that was a muzzle brake or a choke and he seemed pretty sure it was a choke. Not wanting to show the few cards I had, I got him to quote me 299. The other strange thing was that this gun had a camo paint job that looked like the old fatigues, not the mossy oak etc. you see today.
Any advice on this? I looked at 2 other shops with no luck, but I'm really not feeling the first one. Got the cash for a new one, but I'm avoiding the drive and would really like to keep the cash in hands close to home.
