Pawnshop crawling

you have to find the right one. usually the ones around here that have "gun and pawn" in their title then they have pretty good stuff. if its just " ____ pawn" then i'm pretty cautious about even going in.

as far as prices, i got a brand new springer ultra compact from a pawn shop for 700 bucks. It was the last one and i guess they were just feeling friendly.

I have been on the end of a half dozen or so good deals from one of my local pawn brokers. lets see -----recently a NEF .410 single shot for $40 and an SKS all original with new bayonet $85, also a Maverick 88 $75--All in great condition and all out the door prices, purchased within the last 6 months. There are a lot of others but these werw the better ones lately. I hit the shop at least once a week and just ask what's new in the firearm area and they will go over the new stuff and what is wrong if anything needs to be mentioned.

The Pawn Shops I troll as a "regular" treat me well because I treat them well, and they are what I would classify as truly "gun shops" as probably 1/2 of their firearm inventory is new.

I find some really great stuff at the "mom-n-pop" Pawn Shops around where I live, and I'm able to handle and inspect before purchase, and my right of return within a time-specific is understood. I've also bought guns that had known problems, which were disclosed while it was handed to me from the rack. It's one of my favorite ways to shop for guns, and all at a "collection point" of great variety that's "hands on" and therefore hard to beat, especially for used stuff. It's all about the relationship you establish, as previous posters have pointed out.
