Pay it Forward in Reloading

I want to say a special Thanks to:

jwrowland77 and Ray P for working on getting me some dummy rounds for my .44 Marlin. I also want to thank TenDriver for taking the time to try and help, I know I can't find the stuff I need when I need it either. This pay it forward thing is really great and I received these goods from the total kindness of a stranger and my Friend jwrowland77 just asking here; so I joined the forum based on the kindness shown in this thread.

This is my first post and hopefully not my last here on this site. I'll also keep my eye on this thread and pay it forward to someone else seeking something in the future when I can fulfill it. My father was big into reloading and even though he's gone I would love to set the equipment up again someday and show my kids what he taught me. So between then and now there appears to be alot of browsing to do.

Thanks to the link to the marlin owners forum, I have that bookmarked and a few other sites that detail exactly what to hone a tiny bit at a time to try an d solve the issue. I am working very slow as I don't want to take more off than necessary as then I will be screwed.

Again, thank you all for the time you took in making me some dummy rounds, I feel safer handling this thing on my bench in my house as I diagnose these issues and remove rounds when jammed. Thanks!

Good luck on the diagnostics and Marlin smithing efforts! Very glad to help.

Received the micrometer

Blarby and bds,

Received the micrometer when I got home last night. Thanks bds! Blarby, the post office said two days, so I figure you should get those bullets Tuesday.

It's about time I add one to the list again.

Up for grabs is a GP100 spring kit. The only spring I used was a trigger return spring. There is a modified stock spring in it's place, so the kit is essentially still complete. I had the gun smithed awhile back, but I actually liked the more reset of a tad heavier return spring than it had been lightened to.

Alrighty.

So in the Partnership for Powdercoating thread I promised that when all of the testing was done, I was going to smelt down all of the remains, re-cast them, powder coat them, and distribute them here.

I ended up with enough lead to keep about 80 175gr .401-.4015 Truncated cones for myself, and I'd like to distribute the remaining 500 in 50 bullet packs for anyone else who'd like to try them.

Only requirements are that you've PIF'd to someone before today.

So, I have 10 lots of 50 bullets each. They are 175gr Truncated cones from a Lee mould, sized to .401. Most of these bullets springback to .4015. If you'd like to duplicate the load I used in the PFPC thread, it is there ! I also used 5.2 grs of W231, although that isn't listed in the thread. ( I ran out of bluedot, and needed to test about 1k more of them before I could say it really worked).

They were single coated, so a very few may have a divot here or there with light PC on them, but I wanted everyone who got some to get to try the bullets/method that I thought ended up being the easiest and most consistent bullet. FWIW I've used some NASTY looking ones I was going to just remelt, but decided in the name of science to use 'em. They worked just fine.

So there ya have it !

Please PM me if you would like one of the 50 ct packs to try, along with your address. Then just make a note here in the thread to keep PIF in the front of peoples minds !

A caveat : I'm having oral surgery this coming week, AND my grandmother just got moved in to Hospice- so its probably going to be till the week after that these start going out.

I hope everyone had a great summer !

Keep up the great PIF.

Update- I'm flying back home to take care of my gradmothers' final affairs this week.

Pile the PM's in, and I'll get it all sorted out when I get back- ETA unknown, prolly a week or so.

Thanks guys and gals.

Blarby- I would very much be interested in trying the .401 bullets you cast! May I please?
