I mentioned up I the shotgun forum that I was reading the American Rifleman today

Well a picture of what I thought to be an ithica Auto burgler caught my attention.

What it actually was is a Pedersoli .45/.410 two shot pistol. The thing has 1 in 48 rifled barrels to keep the feds happy and three inch .410 chambers.

The blurb in the magazine direct you to NRA's on line stuff with the article on the new Howdah to be found at americanrifleman.org/howdah

Short article with some firing results there.

Anyone know anything about it?

All I know about it is what I read at americanrifleman.org/howdah. But I think it's gorgeous and would be a lot of fun. But $1395.00? I can't afford that much gorgeous and fun.

That MSRP is insane. The Leinad .410 accomplishes the same exact thing for about 1/12th the price:

And 1/12 the quality.

Dang! That burns. Nothing wrong with the Leinads if all you're wanting is a snaker. The Pedersoli won't do any better a job at snaking.

But, if you want an Ithaca Auto Burglar lookalike replica, albeit one that is much less powerful, go for it.

I think a true 20 gauge version with the $5 AOW tax stamp would be much more interesting. As is this gun is huge, heavy, and extremely expensive for a two-shot .410. I think the end user is better served with a Bond derringer or a Leinad.

The Pedersoli guns are available in 50, 58 caliber and 20 gauge shotgun. Also a shoulder stock is available for them. Thats why I stated they were much better quality guns than the Leinad. My buddy has one of the break open single shots in .410 and 45 colt. He paid just over $150 for it. And it looks like a $150 dollar gun. You get what you pay for. I like quality. And I have several guns suitable for snakes. Like my Ruger 32 mag that I make snake loads for. My buddy has the same ruger as I do and using my loads has killed over 40 snakes. Most with one shot.

I do have to admit it would be hard to drop that much cash on a double barreled .410. No matter what the quality. I have a couple of very clean H&R single shots in 410 and they were both way less that a hundred bucks each. They will do all the snake killing I want to do. I tend to leave snakes alone or load them up and haul them way out in the country.

I have one of the percussion 20ga...at about half the price. For any practical use I see no purpose for a .410 cartridge over the BP option (or a brace...).
