I have one of these coming, 44cal boot pistol with the screw in barrel. I don't know if there are instructions with it or not. So I'm asking for any info you fellows may have such as powder charge & type of powder, black, triple 7 or even black horn 209 when you use the 209 primer adaptor. Does a patched 454 round ball work well? I'm not looking for accuracy, just thought this would be a fun gun. Thanks in advance for the help...

I know that the Pedersoli manual that came with one of my guns said 17gr of 3f powder or substitute for .451 caliber. Most of the .44's are .451 when talking reproduction muzzleloaders(not Ruger Old Army, I've been told). I HAVE used .454 without wadding in a 1858 Remington with good results, but I would recommend finding wadding in the right caliber to use with the balls.

Either I have been wrong for a long time or the people making YouTube videos with these do not know how to run a screw barrel pistol.

I thought you used a naked ball like a C&B revolver loaded from the breech. At least until you let it rust up.

Jim is correct. You can use a 451 or 454 ball. Unscrew the barrel, fill the powder chamber with powder and set the ball on top and screw the barrel back on. Cap and fire and repeat. They are a neat toy.
