Peep Sight for T/C Omega

I'm thinking about switching out the factory open sights on my T/C Omega with a T/C or Williams peep sight. I use my Omega only for deer hunting and have had some issues with the factory sights obscuring too much of the target. Not really looking to upgrade to a scope because I want to keep muzzleloading more challenging than rifle hunting. I might have to go the scope route though...

Can anyone chime in on whether or not I should make the switch to a peep sight? Any good/bad experiences with peep sights? Or should I just give up a put a scope on my Omega like everyone else.

Lyman peep sights

I use peep sights on most of my rifles. I prefer the fast handling of iron sights over a scope. For me a peep sight is every bit as good as a scope, and in many cases much faster. As I get older I can still use them, where regular iron sights are starting to blur.

I prefer Lyman over Williams, because of the ability to adjust them in and make repeatable long range shots. Heck these are what they used before there were scopes.

What distances are you shooting with your Lyman peeps? Feel comfortable with them beyond 100+ yds?

I like the quickness of peeps too which is why I am thinking about putting one on my smoke pole.

I have made several shots for deer at two hundred yards, and feel very comfortable using peep sights for this. I can't comment about any farther ranges because thats about as long a shot as you can take around here.

I think this is a very personal decision. I know most people I see at my public range seem to feel the need for a scope at anything over 25 yards. I have always used the standard of using a paper plate for my target. (for deer sized game) My max range is whatever range I can put ALL of the shots in the plate. I use this standard for archery, B/P, and modern firearms.
