peep sights

Want to add a peep sight to my marlin 94 357. Between the williams fp series and the 5D series which would prefer and why? What is the main difference between the two?

FP sights get click adjustments vs 5D sights where you loosen a screw, nudge the sight and then retighten.

Williams is just up the road from where I live. Great guys there. My g/f has their FP sights on her 10/22 with the target knobs and it works great.

I'd pony up the extra money and go for the FoolProof-unless you never intend a future sight adjustment. If you plan on sighting your rifle in and never changing it, the 5D will suit your purposes and save you money to boot. If you ever decide to change your sight adjustment to accomodate different bullet weights, distances, etc., the micro-adjustment FoolProof receiver sight makes good sense.
As Caliper_RWVA noted, Williams are good people.

I've got the 5D on my marlin 30-30. But it only shoots 170 gr. projectiles. So I really don't have a need for multiple sight adjustments. But whichever you choose. Can't go wrong with Williams.

i have the fp sights on my marlin 39 mountie. great sights, however i never use the adjustment feature. it's sighted in at 50yds and works well with all ammo.

i'm adding a peep to my marlin 336, and am considering the 5d, or perhaps the skinner express. the skinner looks more rugged.

I have the Williams on mine and on a 336. There is nothing finer for the money in my opinion.

Skinner. Have them on 3 differant lever guns. Solid, adjustable, holds zero, inexpensive. Great peeps.

I'll throw another one in the mix-my lil 1894 wears a lyman 57,and is a very good sight.Maybe I'm out of touch in the peep sight market,but I have 2 of the 57's and can't say anything but good things about them.

I'd recommend the FP over the 5D. I have the 5D on a Marlin 39 and I sight in for a certain ammo with the gun since adjusting in the field is a bit of a PITA.

For a .38/.357 carbine, I'd want quick adjustability like the FP can offer.

No, you shouldn't.

The FP or 5D will adjust all the way down against the top of the receiver if necessary.

The rear sight on the barrel will be in the way, so you will need to remove that and fill the dovetail with a slot blank.

I did replace the Marlin front sight on my 1894 .44 with a Marbles 1/16" gold bead of the same height.

The stock Marlin sight is bigger then a deer at 100 yards!

I much prefer the FP. As noted already, it is finely adjustable and the settings are repeatable. I did a writeup on the FP sight:
