what year did they start drilling and tapping the reciever for Lyman or Williams Peep sight?

I'm pretty sure all post-WWII guns were D&T for a peep sight. My dad bought one in '56 and it was tapped, and the one I bought in '64 was also tapped -- and that's so long ago that the Williams 5D that I put on it actually cost $5!!

mine was made in 1963 and it is good to go....just need to get the site.
