Agree with Abel's rationale. For the conditions mentioned by the OP, I like a 4X or less scope on a lever. In the clear, in good light, out to 100 yds., then iron sights are OK if you have the eyes and technique. Otherwise, a scope. Esthetics are secondary and just a poor red herring. (Sorry Duke.) If you can get a good setup with both as RC has, and get good with both, then that is certainly a good option too.

I didnt mean to start an arguement lol. Simply a which do you prefer? No doubt the peeps have the nostalgia, but the scope gives you a few more minutes of light.
