After reading the blog on PA's site I wanted to do a little pellet test on my own.

Distance was 25 yards and the gun was a Crossman 2100. The tests are done over the entire day as this much shooting is really impossible for me to do in one sitting at this stage.

All shots are 10 shot groups except for the alloy pellets....only 5 shot there and IIRC only 3 hit the paper. But it is a good example of how the groups can change with just the pellet. The gun was shot with me holding it on a rest, but again at the end I was a shaking a little bit. Next time I will put it in a lead sled to take me out of the picture as much as possible.

Here is a photo of the target.

100% RIGHT! You bet every gun has it's favorite too! Gotta check all sorts of pellets in every one to get the best one!
It's a waste to have a fine rifle and ruin it's capabilities with the wrong pellet.
All of em Pneumatic, Gas. Spring, all of em!
You have the most important secret, no go test and have a ball!

I have a few tack-driving .22 pellet rifles that, if going off of how they shot the first brand of pellets I tried, I would have used as tomato stakes.

I will say that most of mine have done well enough for hunting with the Diablo Exacts.

Nice test. I'm not surprised that the alloy pellets didn't shoot well. It's not that they are ALWAYS poor performers, but they do tend to be more likely to perform poorly than lead pellets.

Those pellets do seem to be a standard....but I am one of those idiots that always goes back to try something different.

I will also say I have tried a few different "alloy" pellets in both 17 and 22 and they all just don't like my guns. Different ranges, different power guns, different brands....I have yet to find one that will shoot worth a darn. The alloy is also to be harder then lead and thus harder on your rifle as well. I doubt I will be going "green" for quite some time.
