Anybody have any experience with PENTAX scopes? I know I should spend 300 bucks for a better scope but its just not in te cards right now. I have heard the Pentax scopes are good quality for the price.

How do they compare to the Vortex Crossfire?

Not what you asked, I know, but a perspective for you - While I have not used that particular scope (Crossfire) - I am absolutely sold on Vortex as a company and have some of their other products. Customer Service is absolutely second to none; unlike others, they treat individual consumers extremely well and have a transferable lifetime warranty on all of their stuff (even their cheap lines like Crossfire). They pay attention to what people say, think and want, and are all over the internet forums staying engaged with the firearms community. If it were my money, I'd buy the Vortex without question; I am that impressed with them as a company.

Not had any experience with Pentax, I am sure they are fine and have been around a long time.

Pentax scope are indeed a good value and I've used then with complete success and satisfaction. When they were first introduced they were made in USA by Burris. Not having heard different, I suppose they still are.

i have found a 6-20x50mm vortex crossfire scope for 100 bucks... i am gonna buy it tomorrow... someone in the mean time talk me out of it if the pentax or other budget scope (sub $200) is better...

the scope is for a 25-06 varmint and target rifle.... so it needs to stand up to some recoil

The Redfield scopes and Bushnell Elite 3200 are two other scopes in your price range that would be worth checking out. I'm not sure about the Bushnell warranty, but Redfield is owned by Leupold so their warranty is top-notch.

The Crossfires have had a few issues but Vortex is a great company that stands behind there products. SWFA.com has the 6-24x50 for $99.

Beentown
