Hello,
I am just getting into Black Powder shooting and I recently bought a Armi Sports CS Richmond in .58 cal. I found information on recomended powder charge, powder type, but I cant find anything on percussion cap size. I assue it uses the same size as the Armi Sports 1861 Springfield. Does anyone know what size/ type of Primer Cap I should use on my rifle?

I use CCI # 11 caps for my T/C Hawken, and they work perfectly. They are "magnum" caps, and a tiny bit larger than #10 caps, so they can be a little loose on a revolver, but they will be great on a rifle.

Mb3, If your Richmond Rifle-Musket has the original nipple in it you would use musket caps. You can also buy aftermarket nipples with the same 5/16x24 thread that will accept the #11 rifle caps.

I went to my local Gander Mountain today and picked up some 777 2f powder, to get started. I am going to have to order traditional black powder, cant find any around here. They did not have any musket caps (winged) but they did carry 209 muzzleloader rifle caps. Will these 209 caps work in my Richmond?

I don't think so.

#209 denotes a shotgun shell primer size for the in-line muzzle loaders using self contained shotgun primers.

They won't fit on any size nipple.
