Today was 72 degrees, the creek was a passable 12” deep, so I took three rimfires (New 10-22 Target, Rem 581 and Ruger American .22 WMR) and two 7.62x39’s (AR and old-style Mini-30).

The ammo for the .22 LR was Sellier & Bellot Club, Remington-Eley Target, CCI SV, Norma TAC-22 Target, CCI Mini Mag HP and CCI Blazer. .22 WMR was PMC Predator, CCI Maxi Mag FMJ, Winchester Dyna Point and Aguila JSP.
7.62x39 was boring old 123 gr Wolf FMJ.

The 10-22 did really well with the TAC-22;

And the S&B Club:

Was sort of good with the CCI SV:

Shot high-right with the Mini Mags:

Loved the Remington-Eley Target:

And did ok with the Blazer.

The Ruger American .22 WMR was next. (Following page)

The WMR shot poorly with the Dyna Point:

Did ok with the Agiula JSP: IMG_4579.jpeg

Ok with the Maxi Mags: IMG_4581.jpeg

And so so with the PMC Predator:

Naturally, the wind kicked up a bit and started swirling when the 581’s turn came up. This, plus a 4x vs the 9x and 14x on the other guns, made groups larger.

CCI SV: (yuk!)

Remington-Eley Target was good (my flyer, I’m sure!):

CCI Mini Mag:

CCI Blazer (double yuk!):

Norma TAC-22 (meh!);

The 7.62’x39’s using open sights were nothing to crow about. Off hand I kept 50 shots from each in a 6” circle. Certainly no match winners, but it was a nice way to spend a Friday morning.

Stay safe.

Looks like an outstanding day at the range!
First time this year that the stars aligned since my Limited membership allows only Fri-Sun usage: Friday am, good weather, creek passable with my 2WD Sequoia, and range not so muddy they closed it. :) (4WD F350 has an oil leak currently being repaired under warranty.) I did have to throttle up in the deepest part of the crossing, it’s moving pretty good and roughly 12” deep, but ol’ reliable pushed right through.

I can say I am not the greatest rifle shot. I need to work on a consistent positioning for each shot as well as find a happy medium between my prescription vision needs and sighting through the scope. :thumbup:

Hopefully the weather lightens up back East and more members of THR can get out there soon! 🙏

Stay safe.

Did I miss the Remington 581 results? Inquiring minds wants to know.
Last 6 images above. :D

Sadly, between the wind that picked up when it was up to shoot, and the 4x scope not giving me the same magnification-precision that the 9x and 16x scopes did on the other guns, the grouping wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be. (Again, I fully admit that I am not a crack shot with a rifle!)

Stay safe.

My 10/22 also does well with the Norma Tac-22. It does best with CCI SV, but sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference. I haven’t seen any in a while though.
