Perfecta 158gr 357 and 38 special ammo

I know perfecta is made in Italy by Fiocchi, distributed by the Russian Tulammo and sold by Walmart. I have been shooting a lot of it at the range because the 357mags are $16 for 50 and the 38 specials are $17+. Done a lot of internet searches and can't seem to find a lot of negative posting on this stuff other than it's cheap. All brass and FMJ. How many of you use it and is there any reason not to.

I've never bought any myself, but sometimes I shoot at the local gravelpit with a friend who doesn't reload. He buys what's ever cheap. Last summer he bought 4 boxes of 38 and a couple boxes of .357 Perfecta at Wally World. Seemed to work well out of his old Model 58. Best part is I got all his empty brass and even the empty boxes. Seemed to be good stuff and I've shot some of the reloads in .38., no problem with the brass. Just 147gr. WC loads, so nothing hot. I'd buy it without thinking twice about it. I can't think that ammo that works being "cheap" is anything negative.

I've been happy with it too. I've shot over 2000 rounds in my 9mm shield, sig P226, and the Ruger gp-100's with 0 issues until yesterday I had one FFT in the shield. May have been the gun. Off center, light strike. The reason I asked is I have forcing cone erosion starting in one of the gp's and I'm trying to find out why. Might be normal wear. I agree inexpensive doesn't =junk. For the last couple of months the Perfecta has been hard to find in Wallyworld in Ct and NY at least the 2 stores I shop at.

I've shot a few hundred rounds of perfecta .357. Worked fine. Primer holes off center but they deprimed and loaded fine and have been good for 3 reloads so far. No issues.

The only problem I have had with Perfecta .38 Special is that they are often out of stock. If they are in stock, I buy them.

The shelves have been empty of Perfecta in Ct. and NY state where I travel. I read on another forum, may have been S&W, that it has been discontinued at Walmart. What is showing up is what they're clearing out of the warehouses. Any of you folks still finding it at Walmart?

I second that.

I used perfecta .38 spl and it was fine, maybe a bit dirty from what I remember but nothing crazy.

As an aside, I've been getting lucky over the past few months with getting an extra cartridge in the 100 round packs of Win White Box 115gr 9mm...

I've shot a lot in 40 S&W with no problems, and have use the brass for reloading issue free too. I see cheaper than dirt sells it now too, got an email from them today.

I've shot both the .38 and the .357 with no issue. I posted a question here a long time ago and no one ever replied so I'll ask again. Has anyone sent this ammo through a chronograph?

As for the spent brass, I still have most of it stored in quart sized Ziploc bags inside cardboard boxes. So far it hasn't caused any problems.

Its 14.99 for a box of 50 here for .38's I have not tried the .357s but the .38 version works well. No reservations.

Can't speak on the .38 or .357, but the .45 auto 230 fmjs have been fine in my M&P. The brass isn't the best, flash holes are not always centered. But I have reloaded them 3-5 times without issue.
Local Walmart has the 50 round boxes for $16.94 out the door. Decent rounds and price is good. If my math is correct they cost about 9 cents a round more than my Montana Gold/Winchester/ww231 rounds.

I've had pretty good luck with there .223 ammo, it comes in boxes of 50 cartridges, and is right at $15.00 if I remember right, I've used at Front Sight Shooting Academy, which requires factory ammo, although I haven't seen any there lately at Wal Mart. My AR-15 doesn't seem to know the difference between my hand loads and the Perfecta brand as far as rapid shooting is concerned, now at a distance, now that is a different matter. Yes it is a bit dirtier than my hand loads, but I clean my rifle after every use anyways.

The only problem with Perfeta is that it IS $17/box. Reload for aobut $6. Often less if you snag bulles on sale.

I wish I could find Perfect revolver ammo. I think it'd be more affordable than most of the other stuff I've seen.

I'll never use Perfecta semi-auto ammo again, though. Ran across some shells that were loaded funny - big muzzle flash, yet not enough power to cycle the gun. That shouldn't matter on revolvers, however.

Have shot 100's of Perfecta 38 special, 357, 380 and 45acp with no problems. Last home at Walmart they were peeling labels off the shelves for it. The clerk said they weren't getting any more in. Have had no problem reloading it either

I got into reloading 3 years ago. Me & a friend sure turned a lot of Perfecta ammo into empty brass since then. I have had no problems with reloading it

The only caliber of Perfecta that I've shot is 9mm, but I shot maybe 300 or 400 rounds of it. It cycled my G19 just fine. As I'm not set up for reloading yet, I can't really speak to the quality of the brass for that purpose, but I have been saving mine.

my local walmarts can't keep perfecta in stock which tells me folks like the stuff...I have shot 38, 357, 380, and 9mm without many issues (380 didn't feed into a kahr cw380 with a tight chamber/steep feeding ramp );

a few miles from my house is a new leo-ems supply store with gun sales/gun range that has the attitude of not allowing ammo on the range that they don't sell...something about controlling the amount of crap left in the range (crock of s**t since all the other indoor ranges in the area only limit to no aluminum case & no steel case ammo); pleaded with them 3 times about expanding their ammo from only federal (told them my autoloaders get fed hornady for defense and perfecta for practice & that no other range banned the stuff); hope they change their policy or the range will not see the amount of business they need to pay for it...

Gee! I can't remember the last time I bought any factory ammo. The cost has me reloading everything I shoot. I probably will buy a box of .380 at some point, however.

I've shot Perfecta 9mm, 45 acp, and 357 magnum. It seems to be good ammo. Reasonably accurate, no duds so far, and cheap. I think I've fired a combo of about 1200 rounds of it.
