Depriming some brass given to me by a friend today and came across 3 pieces of this Perfect brass. The flash holes are so far off center that I thought I had a piece of Berdan primed brass. Until today I had never heard of this brand and wouldn't hurt my feelings if I don't see another of their cases.

Perfecta is rumored to be Fiocchi.

No rumor, it is made by Fiochi.

Unless it messes up your deprimer pin, does it matter if the spark does not go in the exact center? I mean it fired the first time?? Just wondering.

I have some 9mm brass someone gave me, will have to check those flash holes.

I deprime all my brass on an old RCBS Junior with a Lee decapping die. I have only broken one of the Lee decapping pins in the past 15 years and that was caused when I tried to decap a piece of Berdan brass. I doubt if the flash hole being off center is going to make that much difference but I just don't want to risk breaking another decapping pin if I can help it.

I had some Remington brass a while back with off center primer holes. Only a couple and first time in 20+ years of loading.

I purchased thousands of 30/06 LC Match Pull down cases from Pat's in Ohio. The flash hole were not centered. I could not beat the price.

I measure case head thickness, to save time I cull focakochoney brass. I found a few 303 cases with thin case heads. I want thick case heads, my favorite case heads measure .260", most measure .200". The 303 cases heads were .140" thick.

Think I'd be more concerned about the shape of the primer pocket than the holes. Even with the primer crimp, the pockets should be round.

i was wondering how they made berdan flash holes. how you kept your pin straight after that i don't know. maybe lee should use this for their equipment promotion.:D works with perfecta brass

I have shot alot of perfecta and just started reloading. I had a large amount of the brass pilled up and found several 223 with off centered flash holes but my 9mm perfect cases were fine.

I found a large pile of Perfecta at the local range. I noticed I wasn't getting the same sound or feel when decapping. So I looked and this is what I saw.

About 40% of them were off center. None were too off center to allow the pin to pop the primer, but every one I found that looked like this went into the recycle bag.

Breaking a decapping pin is the only thing I would be concerned with.

The spark from the primer doesn't care if the hole is off center - neither does the powder.

And I have to admit, I've never heard of Perfecta before tonite.

I had the same issue with GFI ( Fiocchi )brass in .223. Killed a decap pin deprimeing it. They looked about the same, some with the flash hole almost to the edge of the primer pocket.
Pulled out a spare and did about 15 more and mangled that one. :cuss: :banghead:
I now toss all GFI brass. I will and Perfecta to the list of toss brass.
