Permit Instructors and Insurance

For all those of you that are permit instructors of any kind, do you have some type of negligence Insurance associated with your instructions?

I guess my question is do you carry or is there any type of insurance that might help if you give a certificate to a person and they later use a firearm in a deadly force situation to prevent you from feeling any civil or legal backlash?

I want to become a pistol permit Instructor in CT but I am unsure if this would open me up to some liability issue that would make it not worth the trouble.

No insurance.

Since I personally know the other 6 instructors in this county, I know that NONE of them have insurance either.


We teach the suggested content given to us by the State Police. As long as we teach it correctly, liability shouldnt be an issue...or so we've been told...


Dont know about your neck of the woods. Seems like yall do things a bit differently up north...

Considering becoming an NRA-Certified Instructor in the near future, here in California. And at the very least I'll be doing it as a Sole Proprietor or Incorporated, setting myself up with a shielding company - any civil suit will bankrupt the company, and not me personally.
