Hi, I am thinking about getting into coyote hunting. I have a 25-06 for a coyote gun, but I know it is a little big for yotes, but I want to save the hides. Does anybody have a pet load for this caliber that would not do a lot of damage? I already used a 75 gr v-max with H 4350 on yote, and it messed up the hide quite a bit and that was at about 175 yards away.

go w/ a heavier bullet. the light bullets in a 25-06 is an instant in to the red-mist society.

look to a 120 sierra gameking, rl-22 or 25, and shoot thru ribs. no troubles.

i prefer rl-25 because it is a velocity monster in the 25-06, but for minimizing pelt damage, you need to rein in the velocity a bit.

Even w/ my 223WSSM, those ballistic tips wreak havoc. I can imagine what they'll do for the 25-06...
IMHO- Like dakotasin, I too prefer the Sierra Gamekings. They're no slouch on accuracy either... I'm sure nosler partitions or Winchester Solid Base's are fine too. As a matter of fact I cut my teeth on the dogs of the South Dakota using mostly FMJ's... Very little pelt damage. Most people I hunt dogs with use the ballistic tips anyway; as nowandays these pelts usually aren't worth the piss that was sprayed on them... (That's IMHO too. ;) )

I have a 257 roberts and have taken a few coyotes with it. I used to use the 100 grain Ballistic Tips because it is my deer rifle, and they did not do a whole heck of a lot of pelt damage. They make an 85 grain Ballistic Tip for the 25 cal. but I think with the extra velocity they might turn into tiny bombs. I shoot Barnes TSX's now and the couple of deer that I have shot with them didn't suffer a bunch of pelt damage. Incidentally Barnes manufactures a solid in 25 caliber 75 and 90 grains, and your 25-06 should throw the 75 up to 3600fps and the 90 around 3400fps. Good luck.
